The IAEA Language Programme at the VIC

Our Spring Semester 2019 is now available for online registration!

Our Spring courses will run from Mon 18th February 2019 until 28th June 2019.

We will be offering various levels of German, English, French, Spanish, ItalianArabicChinese, Japanese and Russian.

Courses are open to everyone who has access to the Vienna International Centre. All classes are held on the F09 floor.

A valid access pass for the duration of the course you are registering is required.  A commissary-only admittance pass is not sufficient. Only a proper VIC access pass will be accepted.
For questions regarding access passes, please send a scanned copy of the pass to: vicsecuritycoordinator@unvienna.org before submitting a course fee payment.

Placement Tests

Online placement tests are available here for German, English, Spanish, French and Italian.

Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Russian placement tests can be arranged on appointment in F0979 or by contacting inlingua at iaea@inlingua.at.

All placement tests are free of charge.


Due to changes to Austria’s Integration Law, inlingua offers two separate German exams starting in October 2018. One examination will be at B1 level for those who require a certificate for the Magistrat MA 35 – Immigration and Citizenship.


The other B1 examination will be for those who only require the certificate for the UN language allowance. Both exams will be offered twice a year. The UN language allowance exam can also be taken on an individual basis with inlingua. The exams consist of two parts; a written part and an oral interview. Each part to be taken separately.
